blutgraetsche wrote:It is criticism of Ballack, because he was far too greedy and chose the wrong club, because Chelsea had Lampard, a similar player and darling of the fans, media and coach, playing there already.
How exactly is that criticism of Chelsea? It's not like Ballack was forced to move there, was he? It was his own fault, he should have known better that it wouldn't work, not that adopting to a new league is ever easy already.
P.S.: Klose was the best player of the Bundesliga in the season Ballack moved to England, get your facts straight.

Well, he used to be a true darling of yours in particular S4P. I remember you defending him vigorously against criticism here, especially in the Lampard vs. Gerrard context. Things dramatically changed once Lampard demanded more money (= pies) just recently.

No, I defended him from the people who made out all England's problems were Lampard's fault, while Gerrard could do no wrong. I also defended him when people made him out to be a Conference standard player. I also said he outshone Ballack last season (which has been backed by virtually everyone).
The only thing which keeps Lampard in the team is his goals (his only weapon of keeping him in the team). You go round the Chelsea ground and ask the fans, I guarantee you more than 95% will tell you this (except for the usual deluded fans, usually 12 year old girls), and 75% + would not include him in the starting line-up if chosing the team.
Like you said to me earlier blut, don't make comments when you don't know the full facts

S4P, we even had a poster here by the name of "Mighty Lampard". Do you seriously want to deny that Lampard used to be a darling of the fans when Ballack joined Chelsea last year at least?

Maybe that's why we're keeping him, solely to prevent Ballack going to Madrid and giving Schuster the signing he needs

Lampard was losing his form and fans long before the WC of course he was a media darling so maybe you read to much into this. Ballack just never rised to the occasion so being outshone by a low to average Lamps did no favours. Ballacks effort was missing. Hope he does better this year.

@ blut
You're gonna always have fans like 'mightylampard'. Like I said, they tend to be the 12 year old girls. Do they represent the beliefs of all Chelsea fans? Not at all. They make up 5-10% of the population.

But to say Lampard wasn't the darling of the fans is ridiculous though. I think for most Chelsea fans he still is. To the people in this board he isn't, since they are more knowledgeable, but most Chelsea fans still rate him highly.
I remember 2 years ago when Mourinho said he would have Lampard over any player, including Ronaldinho. 606 was flooded with fans who agreed entirely. I also have many friends who are Chelsea fans and several of them thought the same.

Re: Deco Open To Chelsea Move...
Ahh yes - the legendary Lampard >>> Ronaldinho thread.
"Ronaldinho is more talented, but Lampard is more effective" was the argument, if I remember right.
When he was voted 2nd best player in the world (back end of 2005, carrying into 2006) you couldn't say a bad word about Flumps to your average Chelsea fan...

Can anyone possibly claim not to remember the Lampard>>>Ronaldinho thread?
Longest 606 thread too if I'm not mistaken.
Amidst the Henry>RVN and Rooney>Pele threads.

That was the stupidest thread ever, along with the endless Flumps/Gerrard threads.

Re: Deco Open To Chelsea Move...
Actually - there was the Lampard >>> Zidane one too
I think it's when Flumps scored 8 goals in a month - all at home, against lower order EPL teams. People get way to carried away.

@ Torrente
If you're talking about 04-05, when Lampard was in the form of his life, yes he was a fan favourite. But fast-forward 12 months, where he seemed to be living off the name he'd made in his previous season, a lot of fans were starting to get very pissed off with Lampard. He had a poor World Cup (like many players in our team) but took virtually all the criticism. I think that's what upset most Chelsea fans (myself included).
-----------------------------------------------
I also remember one poster from 606 making numerous "King >>> Terry" posts. Luckily that has died down in recent months, maybe the poster has seen the error of his ways

Not a chance - give me a couple of months and the Kaboul >>> Terry campaign shall be started.
Ledley's so much better - he decided to give Tezza a 2 month head start this season. Says that Tezza's wounds still haven't fully healed from the PWNING he got last November

The pwning including setting up a Drogba goal which was incorrectly disallowed by that idiot who later claimed he received unfair abuse from teams and fans alike? Where was Ledders at the time? Probably getting owned by the Drog
