Hardly the Anelka replacement that their fans were expecting.
Also Leo Fortune West has go out on loan to York ( I think )

TBH Bolton can't really expect to sign a player of Anelka's quality, Rasiak is a good championship player, lets see how he makes the step in the prem.

Re: Done deals
Rozehnal is joining Lazio on loan for the rest of the season, which is a shocking move from our perspective. I cannot understand it, and wonder whether he has irritated Keegan somehow in the last week - I know Rozehnal supposedly commented just recently saying that, whilst he was happy at the club, he was concerned about his lack of games and with the way he was having to move about the pitch, particularly with the European Championships in mind. Still, Taylor has had a good season for us, but Rozehnal is for me our next best centre back, he and Taylor our most promising defensive partnership, and in the few games he has played in midfield, I think Rozehnal has showed promise there. He's the best footballing defender we have had for many years.
To be loaning a player out when we have failed to bring anyone in is ridiculous. And I'm not at all comfortable with Faye and Cacapa as the two centre backs vying to play alongside Taylor - neither are good enough in my opinion, neither are clever footballers. It being Lazio, is there any chance we might get Pandev before the end of the day? That's the only thing that would reconcile me.

But he's going to Lazio, Luis. Or did you mean our mutual future, all as members of this board? You expect him to do well at Lazio and bring us all much joy from a general footballing perspective?

Surely this is part of some secret deal to bring Pandev to Newcastle in the summer.Bashmachkin wrote:Rozehnal is joining Lazio on loan for the rest of the season, which is a shocking move from our perspective. I'm not too bothered tbh. Rozehnal is a very good footballer, but is the weakest defender i've ever seen and is totally unsuited the the premiership. I would rate him behind the other 3 and a long way behind Taylor and Faye who should be first choice. Beye and Faye are coming home now btw, Senegal are out.

I don't know, I tend to take the view that a good player is a good player, and will ultimately be able to adapt to any league given time. I agree with you that Rozehnal isn't as strong as he needs to be in order to be a consistently effective Premier League defender. He also overplays at times, which is particularly dangerous in the defence. But I think, given his footballing ability, given the fact he seems an intelligent footballer and a sensible guy, we could and should have given him time and worked on these things more. He started the season well, was arguably one of our better players for the first four or five games, then tailed off. But he's shown more quality this season than most of our players, and made fewer mistakes than someone like Cacapa in the defence. I also think that Rozehnal communicates well when playing as a centre back.
I think Taylor is our best centre back by some margin. Faye is more solid than Rozehnal, more suited to the league as things stand, but he's not great on the ball, and to me he always looks like he has a mistake in him because he has the odd moment when he just seems to lose the plot, his eyes glaze over and he does something crazy. Cacapa doesn't strike me as a particularly intelligent footballer - his defensive instinct is good, but I don't think he reads games well and he is liable to get caught out.
I think it's remarkable that our decision after three games under a new manager, with a weak squad as it is, has been to get rid of Rozehnal. What about Smith, Barton, Butt, Owen, Enrique? Besides all of which, though I'm not happy with three centre backs for the rest of the season.

So not the internationally recognised player who plays at the biggest club in the world, but the arrogant little tosspot who has won nothing in his career, proven nothing in his career, lasted less than 6 months at Arsenal and whose most notable contribution while he was there was to announce his desire to leave just before one of the biggest games of his club's season?
Oh. Right.

Liverpool have announced the sale of defender Lee Peltier to Yeovil Town.
The 20-year-old Academy graduate, who has four Liverpool appearances to his name, has been on loan at the League One outfit since the start of the season.
Meanwhile, contrary to reports elsewhere, the deal to complete Javier Mascherano's permanent move to Liverpool has yet to be finalised.
