Barca are through. This negative performance by Man U has backfired. They will now have to play at OT with fear of conceeding and will surely be too detrimental for them. When they attack, they will be too cautious. It's a recipe for disaster...

Re: Barcelona vs Man United
Not a very good game. I think Fergie missed a trick tonight as Barca looked poor, unfit and tactically poor. United played fear football with a confusing team selection and they'd have been better off approaching the game believing they were comfortable favourites and playing their usual game.
The world saw tonight what Ronaldo is like in the big games and why he is so derided by EPL fans for his diving and selfish play. The fact that Rooney and Tevez were forced to play out of position to accommodate him didn't do the team any favours.
Fergie got it wrong, but he got away with it and I saw very little evidence from Barca tonight that they will win at Old Trafford.

Re: Barcelona vs Man United
I'm so so so so disappointed tonight. For the first time in 2 seasons I actually sympathise with the players and applaud their efforts tonight. This was the 2006 Barça, the mature one that can control a game and outclass any opponent.
A little more sharpness, a little more fitness, and a little more of some of these guys actually playing together this season, and we would have wiped the floor with Man. Utd, who tonight have not even come close to their claim of playing attacking football. If I was a Man. Utd. fan I'd feel well cheated and embarrassed by my team. Your players were happily celebrating the 0-0 at the end, what a disgrace. Don't try to differentiate yourselves from Liverpool again.
I guess I should be positive because we just need one goal next Tuesday to put a feline mammal among Man. Utd's pigeons, but it really is a case of a huge chance missed. Man. Utd. BOTTLED it big-time tonight, from the second the lineups were announced till the final whistle, and yet we didn't convert any of our domination into a goal.
Kudos Zambrotta, Abidal, Toure (being half-injured and pulling out that performance), Iniesta, and Messi for a set of brilliant performances. Deco too, however much I hate him as a person. In the opposition, Ferdinand is undoubtedly world class, and Ronaldo will feel let down by his teammates today because our defenders shat themselves whenever he had the ball. But I'm laughing to myself thinking of lrd's claims that he would perform on the big stage...missed the penalty
Anyway, a disappointing night in all (esp. for neutrals, I'd imagine, considering only one team showed up, who couldn't even score), but I am encouraged by this Euro-Barça. Next Tuesday I (and hopefully my fellow cules) will be a bit more optimistic.

Well done Man Utd. They got exactly what they played for. I'm thankful that Ronaldo missed the penalty because it would have been a travesty if they won that game. Truly insipid, cowardly and negative from Man Utd. A squad that costs £150m or so, some of the best attacking players in the world and that is the best they can produce.
Barca played ok, and at least they tried to do something. Can see Man Utd winning this at OT unfortunately.
Well up until now Roma have been the best the Mancs have faced and when the have had a go they have caused Utd problems so it's not a sure thing.

Was it Fergie deciding to park the bus or were they just incapable of stringing a few passes together on the night? Surprised to say it was a better game last night. At least Chelsea had periods of pressure and even a dominating period in the second half. There could have been several more penalties in the game. At least two in the first half and in the second half Ronaldo was definetly fouled in the box by a clumsy lunge and Brown was lucky Eto'o stayed on his feet.

Schalke, a defensive team by Bundesliga standards, playing in the CL 1/4 finals for the first time in club history, attacked Barca on their own turf. Puts things into perspective really.

Re: Barcelona vs Man United
Trully pathetic. Decent performances from Carrick, Ferdinand and Evra. Surprise surprise, players playing in their most comfy positions. The only person to blame for this horseshit is SAF. We have a terrific defence. Why not use that to our advantage rather than pad it up some more.
Barca showed me nothing today and this is a trully missed opportunity from SAF. After 30 mins it was clear Barca were showing performances consistent with their play all season. If SAF were to simply borrow a leaf from Betis we could have put this tie to bed right now.
Ronaldo is not an out and out striker and never will be. Can't play people in, can't hold the ball.
Rooney is never a winger, can't beat his man consistently, not particularly good as general wing play. Likewise Tevez.

Abidal contained Rooney, but i would give him a 4 for that stupid tackle on Ronaldo, it could have been given by some stupid ref. What the hell was he thinking! Ronaldo was going away from goal with the ball.
Iniesta was poor in the 1st half, played a little better in the 2nd, so I wouldn't call his overall performance brilliant at all.
