Suarez needs a partner in attack, a big strong one eh ....... Huntelaar, Sulejmani didnt get in the game and Kennedy has a good engine.

You hit the nail on the head, Ajax simply needs a Huntelaar (curse Mijatovic!). Montolivo probably had the best chance of the game so far how the pass that he received was not intercepted and the defence parting like the red sea did no one any favours, Suarez who in recent weeks performances have dipped looks lively but cant do things on his own – Fiorentina should/will win if they want to.

    Second half starting now.

Both goals were down to shit defending, Gomes certainly didn't cover himself in glory for the 1st, but they'd have scored if he'd stayed on his line anyway. On the 2nd, Gunter sold himself like he was Coops Ma.

Yes. the build up for the goal is what surprised me, Ajax actually committed players forward, at one stage it was 2 Ajax players going towards Frey's goal. If Ajax lose, then so be it – got what could be a crucial away goal.

    @ Fey

I think Sulejmani is going through a difficult phase, not sure if Van Basten knows his best position; he still will become a good player. I don’t think Fiorentina are all hype or not taking it seriously, just because Ajax are in the lead – they had all the play and chances, they want to win and I think they can. Leo has done well when given his opportunities, that's all he can do don't forget Van Basten wanted him out.

Thats what I have been saying - he is not a DM, never was. When will Prandelli learn that you cannot play in europe or against any top team these days without a DM???

0-1, and Fiorentina will probably get knocked out now.

Iits just silly, todays game is going exactly as I expected... a perfect showcase of what is wrong with Fiorentina and Prandelli's tactics in europe...

Aside from the English/Spanish/Italian sides, it'd be a strange season if you were good enough to win the UEFA Cup but weren't good eonugh to qualify for any of the CL runners up spots.

If you stripped every CL qualifying place from the League, aside from national Champions, and reallocated them based on the performances in either competition you may get what you want, until then the league will always be preference.

I don't think the the Villa or Spurs results are shocks at all. Anyone who thought they'd be easy ties were deluded. I actually thought both would struggle particularly the Spuds. Same with Fiorentina-Ajax, Ajax are still a good side even if I didn't think they'd beat Fiorentina.

Little surprised by the Marseille and Leige results but then I know nothing of the opposition really.
