Dark Savante wrote:Actually agree with LRD him getting less assists is somewhat related to Saha being having a bad season , how good Rooney may be he isnt someone who will convert crosses etc regularly.
He lacks direct assists which relates to our style actually the highest assister you would find is Nani and he has got 3-4 corners in that.
I said that, not Lrd...

I knew, just knew, that you were going to pick this one up again.
Yeah, alright, 50 is possible. If he carries on scoring 2 every game then we'll be talking about 60. Which really would be silly.
We're witnessing possibly one of the best players if not the best player to play the game
Steady now, he's still got f@ck all assists.
You cant assist your own goals If the score is often 2-0 and Ronaldo scores both then assists don't matter.
If Tevez and Rooney were more clinical he would have more assists anyway. But i prefer the goals. Pele and these guys played when tactical discipline was rarely seen to such a detailed extent as these days. You didn't get managers like Benitez. Teams played 2-3-5 and things like that. I am very sure in 10 years people will be looking at ronaldo as possibly the greatest.
@ Park Life i don't understand the logic? 52 goals and 10 assists or 47 and 15 assists, whats the difference? i would prefer the 52 goals anyway. But thats aiming a little to high. 45 will do

True, but how often has that actually happened in the last couple of years, since Ronaldo's been on his current 'form'?
Whereas if you look at some of the games you've lost in that time, Ronaldo's profligacy and sometimes thoroughly stupid decisions have been a factor. I don't really give a toss about the stats - they're for Arsenal fans without any trophies to cling to for credibility. I'm not even particularly bothered about whether Ronaldo's scoring record makes him better than Messi or Kaka, or any such question.
I'm more concerned with whether or not he can rival Zidane as the best player I've seen play the game. Zidane didn't have the athletic ability, but was technically better than Ronaldo and made far more intelligent decisions. If Ronaldo truly wants to be known as an all time great then he has to show that capacity Zidane had - where every time he got the ball, it looked like he was going to create a goal, either for himself or someone else.
Now, I understand that Ronaldo plays in a different position in a quite different way. And he brings a different kind of excitement - when he gets the ball, you haven't a clue what's going to happen. And I mean that in the most literal way - you don't know if he's going to trip over the ball, do a trick and have it run out for a throw or goal kick, beat three men then overelaborate and lose it to the fourth, storm through the defence and lash it in, produce a flick or cross to open a space for someone else to score, dive and win a penalty, get fouled and not win a penalty but get booked instead - you really don't know.
If Tevez and Rooney were more clinical he would have more assists anyway. But i prefer the goals. Pele and these guys played when tactical discipline was rarely seen to such a detailed extent as these days. You didn't get managers like Benitez. Teams played 2-3-5 and things like that. This is a fair point - the game is quite different today, and anyone other than an out and out goalscorer getting the numbers Ronaldo is getting is truly exceptional. Hell, even a poacher like Van Nistelrooy would be happy with Ronaldo's stats from the last 2 years.

Not a midfielder to me, i have been saying it for ages now( parky even attacked me for it) but i would like him to win the WPOTY award this year( should have actrually won it last year imo). Now that kaka(& milan) are out of the CL, messi constantly injured, inter(ibra) on the verge of elimination he stands a very good chance of winning it.

Was you of the same opinion when Man Utd first signed Ronaldo and SAF was playing him right wing?
From what i remember, people were saying he has no end product, a one trick pony and not he is a striker and SAF is playing him out of position.

He is always left wing or right wing. And we rarely play 4-3-3. He is a winger. Just because he is not a static shitty winger like Milner or Pennant doesn't suddenly make him a striker or a front man. In a 4-3-3 he is one of the forward players as is Nani or Park are they not wingers now?

Barca play 4-3-3 with 2 forwards and a striker: Ronaldinho, Messi and Eto'o
When we beat you at Highbury 4-2, imo, we played 4-3-3 with 2 wingers and a striker: Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney.

Park and nani are not forwards coz they don't make the runs forwards do, malouda for example who plays on the wing too is the same.
Ronaldo is winger-cum-forward just like messi, henry etc
