can anyone stop Tottenham winning the EPL?

Spppppppppppppppppppppppuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrs look set to break with tradition and not sell their best player to Manchester United. The early pace setters are 6 points clear of title favourites Liverpool and on paper their squad looks as good as anyone's.

They seem to have found a nice balance of strikers, a wealth of options in central midfield and, despite his shortcomings, Bentley is capeable of being an able replacement for Lennon. The fitness of King will always be important but Bassong looks to be an able deputy. My main concern would be their left side, but with Petrov or McGeady apparently targeted, could they suprise a few people?

I hope they do but a more realist target is a 4th place.

I want everyone to take note of what is happening here... 1st of all Glenn only set this thread up to deflect attention from Liverpool's dodgy start.

It's not Spurs fans who are talking about the top 4, it's the press and rival fans saying that we should definitely be in there despite us having the 5th/6th strongest budget in the league, setting us up for a fall as always, waiting to laugh at us because we can't break the monopoly with a wage bill that's less than half the size of Man Utd's, and that's approx £30-40mil a year behind Liverpool's and Arsenal's. "The let's laugh at Tottenham thread" will be bumped precisely because of this.

None of the Spurs fans here said the top 4, and I don't see it either, but yet people keep persisting. At least Man Citeh's money has taken pressure and attention away from us.

Fair do's then. How much have you made off sales? As far as I can tell, we're both in the same boat financially, but people only put the "EPIC FAIL" tag upon us.

Not much off sales - not many saleable assets really, if you look at that team! Davis, Ridgewell, Cahill, Samuel, Moore probably added up to £20-25m which is good for youth products.

Obviously Barry was £12m. Other best players were Angel, Mellberg (both left on free) and Laursen (retired).

Think we are quite similar financially - I'd imagine we have similar limitations on wages.

Spurs get more attention all round - it's the price of being in London. Villa get ignored most of the time.

the difference being that Batman clearly thinks Benitez/Liverpool are rubbish while I've been tipping Spurs and admiring their squad all through pre season. You only have to look at the quality of the players NOT in their team to see that. They can afford injuries in pretty much every position (except as I have repeately mentioned, the left) and are the form team, not just this season but this year. Learn how to take a compliment!
