Hah! And this so called good universe is obviously made up of Inter fans Razz
Jokes apart...I remember at the time of Leo signing up for Inter, Ancelotti had made a statement saying that he would never have joined the city rivals. So I doubt if that will change. I have a strong feeling that it will be Miha...Inter's next coach...or the Jedi master of the Inter universe

    eheheh, yeah they aren't bright.

But in their defence, I believe Matri and Quagliarella were more accounting tricks than real loans. IE, more like "ok you can pay next year, and ok we accept the risk that you could not pay if the player breaks his legs. But otherwise, if you don't end up buying them you can forget doing business with us ever again".
And they're good players in the end.

Pepe and Motta are crap but they cost small change so it can make sense to fully own them for using as reserves or bargaining chips.

The only loaned player that was both expensive and probably not that useful was Aquilani and the declined on him, bringing in Pirlo for free.

BTW, could you please add "Hope" to Inter's OUT field in the table? Sad

These 4 signings are not bad business at all! Matri and Quag were always certain to stay, based on their impressive performance. Motta will be surely sold or loaned out immediately and since he does not cost significant, that makes all the business sense. Pepe is a workhorse and will probably find himself as a back-up for Krasic. I am not a big fan of him but he is undoubtedly a gritty customer and will make a decent squad player.

    Sheesh it felt fkin endless.

    It's Gasperini.

Bluenine will curse and scream but I'm quite happy, always liked him.

Contract is worrying, it's 1 single year + option for a second.
In other places it may be a sensible option for untested coaches but with Moratti it just means "I hire you but I don't trust you and don't expect me to back you up". Even if he survives the winter healthy there will be another soap-opera about his renewal from february to june. Well, we'll watch that too.

He'll bring his assistant Bruno Caneo and the tactical analyst Luca Trucchi.
The rest of the staff is from within the club, assistant Beppe Baresi, keeper trainer Alessandro Nista and athletic coach Stefano Rapetti.

Thanks God the rumour that Gasperini would've brought in Rampulla (keeper trainer) and Ventrone (athletic coach) didn't hold true. They both are 100% pure "gobbi" souls of the Lippi-Moggi era and would've caused a harsh revolt from the fans.

six months of Leonardo help much with that, it can't possibly end up being worse than that =D

Seriously, Gasperson, as they called him in Genova, is by no means the perfect coach for our club and our squad.

He loves fast attacking football, and his signature module has 3 at the back, different wingbacks than what we have, and no place for Sneijder' role.
(must be noted that he's not much different in this form Bielsa)

But IMHO he's still a very good coach, clever, flexible, calm, able to teach football.
I hope he can use wisely what we have

When your other options in the middle of june are Mihajlovic and Delio Rossi (never believed that we could convince or afford names like Villas Boas, Capello, Hiddink, Spalletti...), you can't be too picky, can you?

I would've preferred Mihajlovic for the situation we're in because he would've played a safer module and based everything on guts, pride and heart, but Gasperini is a way better coach. He's also better than Delio Rossi IMHO (who also isn't famous for playing it safe at the back).

Then yeah there's Guidolin, by far the best and most complete italian coach at the moment, but he wasn't in the cards, don't think Pozzo would've released him now.
Moreover, my feeling is that he's not fit for a big club - too shy and nervous behind his calm mask to survive the stress.

No surprises for me, goes along with the rumour that Moratti wants Guardiola next season, who has hinted heavily that he won't continue at Barça after a 4th year. But it's not known yet whether he'll take a sabbatical or coach in Italy (or England).

Edit: also, Capello will be available next summer too.

Yeah, I am not happy at all... not just that his tactics don't suit the current Inter squad, his handling of stars is veery suspect. His undoing at Genoa started with Preziosi signing some stars like Veloso & Rafinha who did not suit his style. Add to that the fact that Moratti has hardly shown any confidence in his appointment, it means that our transfers will have little to do with our coach's suggestions. I am not sure he is cut out for Inter, I was more hopeful of Rafa Benitez this time last year!! I hope he proves me wrong.
On the bright side, 1 year deal probably means that we can hope to see Pep/Capello/Prandelli/Spalletti on the bench next season...

If there's some kind of secret masterplan in the backburner, I'm all for it - that would imply that Moratti is willing to invest again in the future and explain our recent wavering. But with Moratti it may well be a case of hesitation, wishful thinking and infatuation for impossible ideas.

On the papers today, they says Gasperini contract is actually 2 years, and there's just a clause for terminating it if Inter doesn't make top 3 (CL qualification) next season. So in this case it would be just a typical of novice's insurance for the club. Who knows.

Hehe, I know... the funny thing is that after the announcement there's been much posting from Genoa's supporters on italian Inter's forum boards and blogs, and it looks like they're quite evenly split between our opposite positions.
What to say, let's just hope we have undebatable good results with the new coach.

BTW, Blue, what do you think of Jonathan?

I honestly know nothing of him.
I was speaking to some of my brasilian friends about him, opinions seem to be split on the "versatile full back"... he is young, has an EU passport, can play on either wing, and from what I hear he is better than either of our fullbacks (Maicon & Nagatomo) on the defensive side of things. There seem to be some question marks on his attacking ability, and on his fitness - he seems a bit injury prone.

So the consensus seems to be - he is good, but he's not the new Maicon.

From the looks of it, seems like Inter are making offers to Lamela... and Alvarez, hijacking Arsenal's move...

I am not too keen on Lamela, but Alvarez sounds good....
