Don't get me wrong, I think Nugent is a great talent but calling him up is McClaren basicly emulating Sven's Walcott move: he won't play, and it takes the place of a player who deserves the call-up much more.

it's a good point, but there truly isn't a lot of depth. If you're after experience you're looking at players like Vassell, Fowler, Cole who aren't getting regular football at club level. Nugent has been an U21 regular for a while and is performing well in the Championship which, if we're honest, should mean he's good enough to play against Israel.
Unless you want to consider the likes of Harewood, Zamorra, Beattie, Heskey or Ricketts?

. Yes you have a strikers drought, but Lita merits a call up much more than Nugent in all honesty. And I would be quite confident that Lita would thrive surrounded by talented players.A striking line-up of Crouch, Rooney, Defoe and Lita already looks a lot better. You may not be spoilt for choice, but neither is it no-where near as dire as yourselves claim it to be. What you really need is a proper link-up man.

As a youngster Nugent was released from the Liverpool academy as they described him as 'not good enough.
Good luck to him if he plays, i would have called up Lita instead.

Ah, must have got my wires crossed.
He's a great player but if we'd signed him back then he'd probably have caused a whole raft of problems for us in terms of squad morale.
I also think he's a HUGELY overrated player by some on here and personally I'd rather have had the players that we've bought since like RVP
