Tennis – Both nations suck, however Italy does have a young dude coming up

I better let you in on a little secret. Italy have 1 player in the world's top 30. Britain have 1 in the top 15. This Italian is the same age as Roger Federer. The other main Italian player (who isn't in the top 30) is older.

oww you are forgetting about women, see the poms have non, where as the italains have a few

like i said they both suck, dont dig your hole deeper

Your women are better than ours, but still you have none in the top 20. It's hardly something to brag about.

And I'm not digging a hole at all. You're making ridiculous comments without any evidence.

No one claimed Rooney was the best player in the world, but at the age of 21, there arent many other players who have done as much as he has. In fact apart from Brazil Ronaldo, I cant think of anyone. If you do please let me know.

I rate Rooney, but thats a tad bit of exageration. Ronaldo at that age was twice WPOTY, Rooney by no means is at that level - there is no comparison! Or even at Paolo Maldini level when he was Rooney's age and was regarded as the best LB in the world and a coupla CLs under his belt.

    More recent examples?

Adriano at that age had led Brazil to Copa America win as top scorer, after FIFA youth cup win and South America youth championship win, & Brazilian Champions' Cup.

Tevez was already 3 time winner of South American player of teh year by Rooney's age!

Personal awards/achievements aside, IMO Messi is better than all of them (Adriano/Tevez/Rooney).

Adriano and Tevez hadnt done it in Europe, which is were the true test is. I am not saying South American football is rubbish, but for me it, performing there, isnt as impressive as performing well in Europe.

So only two all time greats have done more than Rooney has at 21. This is my point, that Rooney isnt the best player ever or the best in the world, but he is an exceptional young player, which is what I was trying pointing out to Toni goal.

Murray spent most of his youth training in London and Barcelona. And yes, an Italian did beat him the other day in straight sets, but then again Murray beat Fed in straight sets before. 1 result doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of 2 players.

    Or more aptly:-

    North Korea 1-0 Italy

So what if he was the 1st pick?

He has to prove himself in the big league before we can say he's better... All I know is, Gordon & Deng are at the forefront of the Best Chicago Bulls team since the heyday of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen & Dennis Rodman.

There's been many players drafted high in US sports that have failed. You just never know. All that says is that scouts rate him highley - he hasn't *proved* anything in the NBA yet.

Again, Down to people who aren't Italian. When the team was mostly Italian it was a joke. The British teams, William, McLaren, Benneton etc. used to piss on them for fun.

Er.... McLaren's car for this year was already unveiled and had done loads of testing runs before any alleged document sharing took place. They won't get booted out - I guarantee it.

And Roland Garros is the only major to be played on clay. Does that mean it originated in France?

(You are right, the game was created in Europe, although it did originate back to Ancient Greece, but your logic is poor).

Tennis' establishment as the modern sport can be dated to two separate roots. Between 1859 and 1865, Major Harry Gem, a solicitor, and his friend Augurio Perera, a Spanish merchant, who both lived in Birmingham, England developed a game that combined elements of both the game of rackets and the Spanish ball game pelota, and played it on Perera's croquet lawn in Edgbaston

So it was thought up by an English solicitor and a Spanish merchant, developed from both English and Spanish ball games, yet the game is 100% English? Rolling Eyes

Also, the majority of tennis language comes from French, but I suppose the game is still 100% English? Maybe you should learn something ok
