Rensing's the no.1, end of discussion.

Well, Bayern do need a new goal keeper after Kahn retired, even if they really stick to Rensing, and plan to sign a #2. Only time will tell, but treating him like this would be a disgrace.

    Stuttgart bestätigt Interesse an Dalmat
    19.05.2008

Turbulente Tage beim VfB Stuttgart.

scratch Okay, who is he and why do we need another midfielder, we already signed two? I want a centre back, PRONTO!

From what I remember of him of his time at Spurs, he is quite a talented attacking midfielder, either playing in the centre or on the left. I think he made a pretty decent impression on the Spurs fans, but I don't think he would be a good signing for you. I got the impression he isn't exactly a model professional off the pitch (afterall Spurs didn't make his loan permanent) and also I think once he settles at a club he gets into a comfort zone and doesn't produce his best. I think the number of clubs he has played for already at the age of 29 might be evidence of this and it could be a risk signing him. Although he has played for a number of good clubs so the talent must be there. But I am speculating a bit, I don't recall a great deal about him, I just get the feeling you might be better off avoiding him.
Thanks for the info, Sheffield Gunner! Bubbly Sounds like another Bastürk. Rolling Eyes

Hey guys, what is Degen like? Liverpool are interested in him. And Rafa has even commented on his strengths, namely, that he likes to get forward.

Is he good defensively? Does he have any other good attributes.

    Cheers

Everton striker Victor Anichebe has emerged as a shock target for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Despite playing a key role in securing fifth spot for the Toffees this year, it is believed that Anichebe will be allowed to leave.

David Moyes is reportedly willing to listen to offers in excess of around £5 million for the Nigerian/English forward.

There is likely to be significant competition to secure the signature of Anichebe, as other German side VfB Stuttgart as well as Premiership sides West Brom and Sunderland are both ready to make a bid for the talented forward.

Anichebe scored four goals in eight games in the UEFA Cup last year, proving he has what it takes on the European stage.

Interesting speculation. My initial reaction is that £5m is a bit excessive, I would be looking at maybe £3m or thereabouts if I was looking to buy him.

I've been quite impressed with him when I've seen him play (admittedly that isn't very often). He is stocky and powerful, works hard and harasses the defence constantly. He is pretty fast as well. A case of bludgeoning through a defence rather than unlocking them with finesse and guile. And he has been a bit of a revelation for Everton in the UEFA cup this season, giving plenty of teams trouble.

I think he plays both through the middle up front, but also on the flanks, although not as an out-and-out wide player but more as someone to work the channel and put the opposition under pressure whilst keeping a solid shape to the side.

I think he has been mostly used as a substitute this season, I don't recall him starting too many games (they have Yakubu and Johnson ahead of him) which makes him a difficult prospect to judge. Sometimes it's easier for a player like him to make an impression against a tired defence, but I can't really say. For less money I think he would be worth a gamble, but at £5m I think it's quite a large risk for you to be taking over someone who is essentially a 'super-sub' at the moment.

I'm not sure about bolstering the midfield. I don't think he is a 'proper' midfielder, but he can play out wide in the five man midfield which is so popular over here with teams like Bolton and Everton where the main requirement is to work hard and press the ball. I doubt he would do well if thrown into a proper midfield role, and it would be a waste of his attributes. The other day though you mentioned Stuttgart needing a more positive defensive mindset, including the strikers pressuring the opposition players when they have the ball, and he would certainly offer that. I'll keep an eye out for any further news on this though.

Also, not a Bundesliga transfer rumour, but one you might not have noticed but will be interested in. There are suggestions Fulham will move for Steve Finnan, which can't be good for Moritz Volz to see another right-back at the club.

Nurnberg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic is set to join Wolfsburg.

The 25-year-old Bosnia international, who has shunned a move to England, revealed that he had agreed personal terms with Wolves boss Felix Magath.

"I have reached an agreement with Wolfsburg, now it's up to the clubs to sort out the rest," Misimovic told Kicker.

Nurnberg sport director Martin Bader has also confirmed that he is prepared to let the former Bochum man move on in order to help fund a squad that can challenge for promotion again next season.

"There won't be a lot of poker," he said.

"If the fee that we are offered is OK, then we're prepared to let him go."

Misimovic could be the first of several new summer signings for Magath as he attempts to build on the late-season charge that saw the Wolves bag a UEFA Cup berth on the last day of the Bundesliga season.

"Now we can start talking to players who insist on being able to play international football," he commented.

    STUTTGART: Interesse an Stéphane Dalmat
    Geduldspiel um Jens Lehmann

Die ersten Gespräche sind geführt. Ganz lose, ohne konkrete Zahlen.
GEORGE MOISSIDIS

    kicker
    The gist for the non-German-speakers:

-Lehmann is still in the focus, it depends on whether he'll actually continue after the EURO, though. He only wants to play for one more year, while Stuttgart are hoping that he stays for two years.
-Schäfer says that since he still has a contract with Stuttgart, he'll be there at the first training session of the new season and that Lehmann's arrival wouldn't be a problem for him because he could then learn from him. Kicker are saying, however, that it probably won't come to that since Stuttgart want to sell Schäfer.
-The journalist then creates the rumoursays that Robert Enke could be another target should the Lehmann thing fall through, since Stuttgart were thinking of signing him last year.
-And lastly, he mentions that Stuttgart are still pursuing Stephane Dalmat.

poor BVB fans, don't think Klopp is the man to get them out of the Dolldrums.

Don't get thier board, they must be able to get somebody better. They're still a BIG club.

Would be a good move for Klopp though, always good to start somewhere, where it's nearly impossible to do worse than your predessor.

Bakirciouglu always did well for Rutten, so now surprise there & he knows Farfan from his time with PSV. Seems Fred goes for those he knows. Could well make sense.

On Skibbe always thought he was more of a tactician than a great people manager. Shouldn't he make the same move as Ten Cate & become a worldclass assistant in staed of an average manager? Otherwise he could run a youth academy...

Being a good pundit and being a good coach are 2 different things. Not mutually exclusive of course. Watched him 2 at WC 2006. It's not like he isn't suited for tv; just thought his analysis was poor on average. By the way I hardly rate any pundits.

I don´t know what the BVB fans expected, but I would be happy if I was a Dortmund fan.

Having said this however, Dortmund´s main problem was never the coach. (They should have sticked with van Marwijk...) The problem is more an incompetent management (Watzke and Zorc) and far too high expectations. I remember Dortmund players (Dede and Kovac I think) talking about the CL after a 4-0 win in a test match against AS Roma just before the last season started. Doh Now they ended on place 13 and if you take a look at the "real" Bundesliga table (without clear referee mistakes), Dortmund even should have been relegated now. Not to mention they were also in relegation struggle a year ago...
