Are you disappointed in losing Kompany and VdV in the same season?

not really about losing Kompany cuz he was never able to show his skills in Hamburg. Plus £ 6m for him ain't too bad.

He has the talent, no doubt about that.

He's also a bullhead and can be quite hot-headed (result: stupid red cards) and sometimes tends to come across a little arrogant on the pitch. Which is a shame, because he's quite intelligent actually, you'll see in interviews. But the temper is a problem.

Plus he was injured quite a lot here.

It depends. He's got to drop the attitude, if he wants to be really successful.

I'm still sorry that it didn't work out. I liked him.
But I guess it was the best for both sides to get rid of him now. Maybe he needs a fresh start somewhere else as well. *shrugs*

Hamburg are set to complete the signing of Brazil defender Alex Silva from Sao Paulo later this week.

Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer and team doctor Oliver Dierk have travelled to Brazil to sort out details of the transfer.

Jorn Wolf, spokesman for the Bundesliga club, told their official website, www.hsv.de: 'It is right that sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer has flown to Brazil in order to clarify the last details with the player Alex Silva and the selling club Sao Paulo.

'Our team doctor Dr Oliver Dierk has accompanied him in order to carry out our medical obligations. He will examine the player on the spot.'

Hamburg are keen to bring in a replacement for Vincent Kompany, who moved to Premier League side Manchester City last week.

And the club views the 23-year-old Silva, who has won eight caps for Brazil, as an ideal signing.

Wolf added: 'When the examinations and the last details with Sao Paulo are sorted, we expect all three back in Hamburg by the middle of the week. The exact time frame is still not certain though.'

Wouldn't mind us signing somebody though. Injuries could kill us this season. Talking of which, Altintop is out again and will miss at least a few weeks.

I've said that in the Nationalmannschaft thread months ago: I think a great deal of Jansen, already wanted him here last season, but then he went to Bayern.

Well, we'll see what happens, when he's here.

He certainly fits in Martin Jol's system.

Thanks, Turner! 8m for Jansen sounds like a good deal imo, I remember you offered Gladbach 10m Euro some time before he signed at Bayern.

Well, okay, I start looking for a nice Didi avatar, but I won´t wear it until Neves signed.

However I must say I'm really impressed: Petric, Silva, Jansen, probably Neves plus Aogo and Pitreupa. And Jol and his team of course.

Didi must have robbed a bank somewhere... Wink

Allofs on the other side is so stingy, he just paid 1.5m Euro for one year Pizarro plus 300000 for Said Huseinovic. Considering he sold Owo to Dortmund for 2.5m we should even have a plus of 200000 Euro... Erm
