Does this mean we can add Lennon to the list of young, affordable English talent that for some reason Wenger ignored? Yep?

    Okay then.

I like Lennon, but it's not black and white. He is overrated but he does have potential. He scored today and looked good, especially when he switched to the right which was key as it stopped Cole getting forward and he is clearly more effective that side.

He is as good as SWP and Pennant when they burst onto the scene, the next few years will be key to his development he coulkd still take the Dyer route, none of us know for sure.

Worthy of his place in the Spurs team, that's fo sho.

    HaHa!

I've read so much BS about Lennon over the last couple of Days, it's untrue.

*For his own sake, he shouldn't go to Chelsea.

*Speed Merchant my ar$e. Look at him when he's going at full tilt... and how far the ball goes away from him. That's close control & dribbling accuracy at top speed... not the"knock & run" style of players like Agbonalahor, SWP & the Master of it, Head Diva Chairwee Onree.

*Can't cross? He's not Ashley Cole. He can't cross consistently wel. That's a more accurate statement.

    * He's not a natural goal threat from the wing, but this can be coached. I've noticed he tries to get into the penalty area a lot more than heading from the byline this season.

    *He's a special player - end of.

SWP was 23 when he started to have an impact in the Premiership with Man City. Lennon is only 19. Pennant never really played many games at Arsenal in the first team to make an impact.

Lennon to me is a poorer version of Messi.

both short and skinny, with a low center of gravity and very fast.

What makes Messi World Class is his close control, dribbling skills and decision making.

Lennon will be a great player as he gets older because you would expect his end product to improve.

only thing he will have to worry about is injuries.

    Biggrin <Ale> ok ok

    Too true.

Glenns comparison with Dyer is a good one though- Dyer was class when he first burst onto the scene- I remember going to a game at the McAlpine to see england u21's and Dyer roasted the swedish left back for 90 minutes, He was awesome. Cue the ego and inevitable unfulfilled potential.

Hopefully Lennon has more between his ears then Dyer.

BTW, SWP is slagged off on here far too much, he was undoubtedly a talent at Man city- he socred some great goals, and is not a pace merchant either, simply a player struggling to make an impact without a run of games.

there is still a potentially very good player in SWP if he can get a run of games.

SWP was so good at Man City - scored something like ten goals in the season before he left, including that stunner against United.

    Chelsea ruined him, the wankers.

Arnesen is more similar to Wenger than you think - Both employed a "scattergun" approach, i.e loads of signings at cheap prices and if a handful turnout to be gems, then that's great.

For every Ljungberg & Toure, there's been a Christopher Wreh and Kaba Diawara.

For every Lennon, there's been an Andy Reid.

I know mate - I was actually referring to Kimbo's Shag a bloke for £1m confession.

Maybe he thinks he can shag the bloke & buy Lennon for the toon... I think he's worth rather more than that now!

Tavlaridis only got CC outings. Although he is a first choice at Lille now, and they are doing well in the French League and have played CL football (ask our Man Utd friends Wink ).

The Grimster was great, 2 million for a utility player that did his job when required, never moaned when he was benched - Good pro. ok

Jensen! They made t-shirts after that game which read "I saw Jensen Score!" on them... awesome

Had a lot of time for Chris Kiwomya too. Ahh, those Arsenal glory years <Ale> Biggrin

Its amazing how Wenger has completely turned them around in the last decade. Total fair play to the guy.

BTW - awesome result for Spurs TS, so chuffed when I saw Lennon had scored too. He is Da Boy innit (this is how they speak in chapeltown where hes from) <Ale> They still love him up in Leeds
