Hope he does well because I like West Ham but I'm not a Curbishley fan. Charlton played hideous football and everytime they started to play well he seemed to want to cut the creative players loose.

Ok, it's fair enough playing shit football as you consolidate your position but part of the Curbishley hype is because he had done that with Charlton. The football never evolved.

Shame they didn't get Sven. 2-3 years and they'd have been getting 4th place.

    £4m on Luke Young.

How much did Bolton pay for Anelka?

He didn't 'cut them loose' Obi - they just started to think that they were better thna Charlton and wanted to leave - at least this is what happened with Jenson and Murphy.

    £8million.

Considering that every club above the bottom 3 gets a half million per-place, I'd say their league position paid for it...

Anelka's only come in this season though. Didn't Charlton spend something like ten million two seasons ago?

i don't think curbs is a great choose to me honest. so one like the former chelsea manager (don't remember his name) would have been better IMO.

Appointed in two days...I can only imagine there was a prior arrangement that Curbishley would be managing them before Pardew was sacked.

I don't think so, judging by Curbs' comments on Sunday campaigning for the job. I do agree though that Magnusson probably had him in mind when sacking Pardew.

Very good manager for them, he performed miracles with Charlton, i don't think people realise just how much he achieved there. Juast ask yourself where Charlton were before he took over. Erm

I look forward to seeing what he can do with a better group of players. ok

It's not saying that he'll turn you into a boring side Deano. It's just that he doesn't exactly have a track record of entertainment, does he?

I hope he does exactly what Pardew was doing last season but takes you up a few places in the league to be honest.

Newcastle only play decent football with Emre & Butt (Playmaker, Ball-winner) in Central Midfield. Or when the Wasteman is fit.
    ----------------------------------------

Deano - Curbishley's style is at odds with West Ham traditions, that can't be denied. Of courrse he'll try to keep the traditions, but how well can he, a conservative coach by nature get the squad playing under such methods? That's all.
