Messi spends more time on the physio's bench than the pitch, Kaka hasn't done much, Ronaldinho we all know, Cesc has slowly faded away.

Closest competitor would be Zlatan, whos got 13 goals in the Serie A, and the top scorer in the CL with 5.

Robinho's played for Real with 11 goals in all competitions, but needs to be more consitent to get recognition.

One stat that should be looked at in CR's case is the number of assists after all he is a winger (apparently), but as far as a attacking midfielder goes he banging in the goals.

Overall CR is the best player right now, with Zlatan behind him, and after its unclear. But theres still half a season to go and anything can happen.

Trust a fat DONKEY to ruin an otherwise inteliigent thread by mentioning that overhyped DWARF Robinho(!!) Doh
To utter that gimps name in t'same line as TRWs is insane and disgraceful....!!!

TRW is on another planet compared to the Gimp....end of. king

Ronaldo also has 5 doesn't he? And he has about as many assists in the CL + 19 goals in the EPL

    And he's a winger...

He has good technique, not great technique like Scholes, Nani or Tevez.

    Excuse me?
What. Tevez has great technique. Anyhow you shouldn't worry too much, unlike skill, players continue to improve thier technique even after 21. Just look at G/Neville.

    We have two examples.

We have Beckham, who wins 3 trophies, has a great cl and wins it. Yet Rivaldo wins the wpoty.
Now we have c.ronaldo, has an amazing season better than everybody, but kaka has a better cl wins cl, and wins wpoty.

So? Thats where the argument comes in. If Kaka deserved it then Beckham should have won it right?

No. Beckham was very good but he definitely wasn't as brilliant as Kaká was this season. How many man of the match performances he had in the KO stages? He had some assists from CKs against Juve and Barcelona, but IMO Kaká did much more than him.

No way. Ronaldo's spent most of his season as a winger and STILL has outscored Ibrah.

The only other players that could be regarded as close to Ronaldo are Kaka and Messi, and IMO both aren't producing the goods like Ronaldo is at the moment.

To put it another way, if he played for Barca, Real or Milan and had the season he had last season and this season, he'd be winning the WPOTY award for the second year running next December.

    Best player on the planet?

    Yep...

and goals are everything? remember the whole lampard dinho debate on 606? and you forgot to look at assists aswell, where Ibra has been better as far as i know. And comparing different leagues is tricky. In the CL id say theyve matched eachother.

Positions are dynamic, Ronaldo doesnt stay on the wing, he is definitely more of a wing forward.

I think if he had an awesome CL last season he wouldve won the WPOTY.

Mind you 11 goals and 6 assists from left midfield is not to be sniffed at.

Loads of players in European football have similar stats and alot of them haven't been gash for the last two or three seasons either.

He has 'great' technique. Miles better than Tevez's anyway.

Technique normally refers to the way that you strike a ball
Yes , and Ronaldo doesn't do it as good. Just look at the way Tevez scored his freekick vs Spurs (for WHam) and the way he passes.

    Ronaldo + Henry

I don't know if this point has already been made but was Henry taking the Premiership by storm at age 22/23?

Difference between Ronaldo at Man Utd and Henry at Arsenal is that at Arsenal the team was built around Henry to get the best out of him.

This is why Henry has always played better for Arsenal than France.

    Heading: Ronaldo > Henry

There style of play is different because Ronaldo also scores a lot of tap in goals, plus he tries more fancy tricks during a game, sometimes they work and other times they don't.

Take a bit from Ronaldinho's, Henry's and Ruud's game and you get:*

C Ronaldo the best player in the world? - Page 5 Sfgman131

    * There is no way i am not saying Ronaldo is as good as Ronaldinho, Henry and Ruud put together.

So far Ronaldo has helped us win the....

    Fa Cup
    League Cup
    Premiership

Next it has to be the Champions League.

I think if he had an awesome CL last season he wouldve won the WPOTY.

A few years ago comparing leagues may have been tricky but could you honestly say that the EPL isn't at the same level or above Serie A at the moment?

I don't think Ibra would do as well in the EPL and same for Ronaldo in Serie A (ill probably get flamed for that).

Similar to when people compared Henry and Sheva.

And it was a shitty Barcelona at the time! if i remember well he won it cos he scored a hat trick in the last game vs Valencia and thanks to him Barca was qualified for the next CL.

i agree..Maybe a MU player deserved to win the WPOY award that season <Ale>

No. Beckham was very good but he definitely wasn't as brilliant as Kaká was this season. How many man of the match performances he had in the KO stages? He had some assists from CKs against Juve and Barcelona, but IMO Kaká did much more than him.

tbh i think Sheva deserved it that year.

Roy Keane Ale deserved it. No surprise Zidane & Davids said he was the best they came up against.

Well Utd have a reserve defence playing. I'm sure Ronaldo would have done better if Milan hadn't had Maldini, Nesta, Oddo and Jankulovski

Theres so many ifs and buts in football.

And Milan didnt have Maldini.. and you actually think Oddo and Janku are good at defending?

They did didn't they? Certainly did it the away game...

he only played 45 mins in the tie.

Positions are dynamic, Ronaldo doesnt stay on the wing, he is definitely more of a wing forward.

Ibra would be like Adebayor and Berbatov combined. He would own the league.

It wasnt a shitty Barcelona, they won the league that season.

And the hattrick you're referring to was a couple of seasons later.
