but much like how everyone was saying cesc is the best midfielder in the world after scoring a few goals and now that his form has drop no one seems to remember him.

and this is what will happen with Ronaldo(maybe he will prove me wrong) .

He hasnt just started scoring for 2 months. This is 2 years now. From the end of the 2005/2006 season until now. I think he has scored 60 goals in that time. How can cesc who has never scored much, scoring for 2 months and then not much after that be compared to this?

I just don't get the basis on what this goes on. Yes Kaka did have a great cl, but Rivaldo didn't even make it out of the group stages! Celtic are $h!t! but Milan went to extra damn time and Kaka is a magician for scoring against some knackered pub players. But he had great cl just that one example is not so great.

For me one contradicts the other. Both times the player who had a better season didn't win. Its clear there is favouritism towards brazillians and la liga players. Kaka never won it before so i don't mind him winning for such a great cl, but its clear when it was the other way around it produced a different outcome so imo you cant deny favouritism.

Right now most reasonable people apart from lunatics with bizarre ideals agree ronaldo is the best in the world. So i hope even if a cl semi like last year happens, he still gets the recognition he deserves by winning wpoty <Ale>

You're overexagerating a great deal and are confusing players with clubs. Rivaldo is not Barcelona for a start and Kaka is not Milan.

The fact that Kaka scored the winning goal in that match only backs up his case. Celtic are not pub players either.

Kaka had an extremely dominant CL last season. Beckham was good but he wasnt by far the best player in the CL.

And again open your eyes. People could quite reasonably claim Ibra is better for example.

    .

    Why will it?

He's been consistently scoring since January 2006 & his scoring rate is getting higher and higher.

Because he's not going to score 50 goals this season now, is he ?

But by comparing him with Cesc he's saying he'd virtually stop scoring altogether.

I can't see that happening at all.

Arsenal were finishing 2nd with Adams and he always got humiliated when he played CL or major International tournies.

Arsenal were a great team. I don't believe the 3rd best prem team would have been hammered 7-1 by anybody. Man Utd won the cl, the league wasnt so bad, Arsenal won the title the year before and were very close in the f.a cup and prem race. Last year seria a was horrific.

yet Milan managed to take out Liverpool and Man utd?

*waits for L r d to come up with some excuse about Utd's defense being injured*

Listen Pierre - I like you, find you an entertaining poster. No argument that you're a retard - you're not. But seriously, this Ronaldo thing is getting daft. I'm one of Ronaldo's biggest critics - ask Lrd how many times I've argued this one with him. I don't think Ronaldo is the best in the world. I've said time and again that he has limitations as a player, that he has a lot to learn.

But come on mate, Kenwyne Jones? I'm a Southampton fan. I remember when Strachan signed him. Pretty sure it was Strachan. I rate the guy, probably more than most. But he simply is not a better player than Ronaldo.

Were you calling Lampard one of the best when he was getting 20 goals from "central midfield" ?

I dunno about Parky, but I was in the 'they're all deflections and penalties, and he's playing as a split striker' group. Very much so. Still am, just no one gives a toss about Lampard any more.

There are perfectly valid criticisms to make of Ronaldo's game, and I'm one of the people making them. But I cannot condone some of the Cr@p you've spewed on this thread.

Fair do's but I don't think its as bad as people saying he is the best and no reasonable person could disagree because he's done well against:

    Aston Villa
    Blackburn
    Portsmouth
    Newcastle
    Middlesbrough
    Sunderland
    Reading
    Birmingham
    Wigan
    Fulham
    Derby
    Dynamo Kiev
    Sporting Lisbon

They're mostly all decent(ish) teams don't get me wrong but that is effectively the argument.

2 goals against them in the 2004/2005 season
Goal and assist against them this season at the Emirates

& what about the International performances in Euro 2004 and the last World cup.

Doesn't answer the question. What's your point? That you think Ronaldo is a tosser because you can't accept that the league's most hyped player DOESN'T play for Arsenal?

Rivaldo and Beckham played very well.

BTW in 1999 Rivaldo also was by far the best player of Copa America and Brazil won the title.

    @ sheva7

Like I've said it should have been Keane who should have been Manchester United's representative in the FIFA Award ..

    But Beckham was amazing:

    * Played his part on the Final day of the 1998/99 Premiership season, Manchester United needed to beat Spurs to win the League (sorry Arsenal fans for bringing this up) scored in the game, the equaliser I believe.
    * Scored in the BIG semi-final replay against Arsenal in the FA Cup
    * By far Manchester United's best player in the UCL Final

UCL should not be the basis of who is the best Player in Europe in a given season. Only 4 teams have won the European Treble Beckham played his part in making Man United the 4th team to do so.

Did not win a Treble, sorry but Beckham contributed to History. First English, Spanish or Italian (the BIG 3 LEAGUES) team to do so. Sadly I don't believe in this FIFA Award, he was hardly recognised in England to be fair. Oh Manchester United are one of TWO European teams to win the European Treble + Intercontinental Title, the other team was Dutch but you can guess who.

That is the REAL award. This is one reason why C Ronaldo should stay in England, he could easily go to Spain or Italy and win this award but it will be better achievement if he did win it by playing in England.

I'm assuming Dave Beckham finished 2nd?

What do Brazilian journalist think of C Ronaldo, does he get the column inches in Brazil? I know Anderson is now playing in Manchester thought if they were keeping tabs on him they may accidentally see Cristiano Ronaldo (or something Very Happy )

Every Man Utd match is shown live on TV. Pundits just can't stop praising him. And he deserves it. Some of them say that he is the best player in the world. Former football players praise him as well. He is really popular here. If they read something like "CR has limited technique and dribbling skills" they would certainly disagree.

I think Ronaldo has surprised me because i said that he would surely have a dip this season allthough i havent seen enough matches to see if he is actually performing or he is just scoring more. anyway i cant see him as the best player in the world until i see him shine against the big teams more. both against Liverpool and Arsenal i barely saw him allthough i didnt see him against chelsea. i said last season that he has alot of time and we shouldnt judge him too hard because he is still young but when some claim he is best then it has be back with great performances against the big teams aswell. so far i have though rooney has been more impressive in the big games.
